Happy Wednesday Everyone and yippee I am in lovely Wales on top of a hill on a sunny day - life doesn't get much better than this!

April Tag

I am loving this Stampers Anonymous quote set at the moment, I think this one is just so true, don't you?

I have used lots of distress paints and colours to create the background, spritzing and smooching.  I love the distress paints as they keep their colour so perfectly and don't go muddy.
I made a butterfly in Clearly for Art, although I notice the one I finally used isn't the one in the picture, I chose one with more detail hoping it would show up more. If you haven't used this yet, I would definitely recommend a play.
I found the white distress stain to be great for stamping just that extra bit of detail.
The flowers were punched from card and metal card and the '4' at the top of the tag is from the packaging of the Tim Holtz tape ribbon - how lucky is that!

I am entering this tag into the following challenges:-

Mixed Media Card with Parchment Butterfly

I really enjoyed making this card as it has lots of my favourite things on it and I love combining fabric, lace and papers.

I began by cutting some fabric ( a free curtain sample) to fit my green square mat which I distressed.

I stamped a nestie shape and attached that and a nestie cut from a stamped torn and gessoed background sheet I had previously made.

I found some beautiful ribbons and distressed just about everything that didn't move.

The stamp is from Crafty Individuals, stamped on linen and coloured with Derwent Inktense pencils.
I made a parchment butterfly embellishment, with wire and an organza flower.
The flower is a silk carrier rod - if you haven't seen these check out Stef Francis.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:-
The Artistic Stamper - Texture
The Ribbon Girl - Flowers
Sugar Creek Hollow - Fabulous Flourishes
Simon Says Stamp and Show - Fly
Country View Challenges - Butterflies
Pan Pastel Challenge - Use a Stamped Image

Make My Monday Challenge - Create Your Own Background

This is my card for this week's challenge at Make My Monday, I do hope you will play along.
The main image is one of my favourite stamps from Indigo Blu.

The challenge is to create your own background.  I embossed white card with a folder and inked with Stormy Skies and Black Soot Distress Inks.

The hinges, lock, gears and clock were die cut and then coloured with Distress Stains and inks.

Faux Airbrush Technique

Craft Stamper magazine are running a Take It - Make IT Challenge featuring Faux Air Brushing so I have finally come up with a card - bearing in mind, I have had two months and the challenge ends tomorrow!

I began by making my own mask with this Marianne Creatables Die.

I then sponged through with Distress Inks.

Finally I stamped the dancer image on the card and also onto paper I had stamped the Dance Dictionary on.
I stamped the solid image onto the card before attaching the loose dancer to give her a little more depth as I have used silicone to raise her slightly.

WOYWW 200

Happy Wednesday Everyone, it's time to share what is on our Workdesks today.
The most obvious addition to mine is my boy.  I have only just thrown number one daughter out of the shed and now her spot has been replaced by number one son.
I love having them both in with me really.
Have a great day and please share What's on Your Workdesk this Wednesday - for details visit Julia at the Stamping Ground.
Have to dash, the postman has arrived and now Bowser is on the rampage! I am clearly going to get nothing done today.

One layer card - Make My Monday Challenge

This week's theme at Make My Monday is a One Layer Card and here is my take on this.

I have used a Darkroom Door Image which I stamped first.

I then cut masks with a nestie and once I had decided on the layout, sponged through the masks with Distress Inks.  I used a cheap car washing sponge for this (3 for £1 from the pound shop).

That's all there is to it and no extra postage costs on this one - most unusual for me.
